Highlights of the National Postal Museum
Date/Time
Date(s) - 09/08/2023
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
The National Postal Museum explores the history of the United States Postal Service and the integral role it has played in American life. The museum includes fascinating artifacts, including an original stagecoach, a mail railroad car, objects from the 9/11 terror attack, items of mail stolen by Native Americans in 1860, and much more.
An expert panel of docents will discuss what we can learn about American history when we look at it through the lens of mail and communication. Each expert panelist will showcase their own favorite objects. The experts will also touch on such intriguing questions as:
● What special contributions have postal carriers made?
● What role have stamps played in history?
● What is the USPS Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee?
● What is the connection between the Titanic and the mail?
Come learn all this and more on an engaging virtual tour that covers highlights of the National Postal Museum collection. Thank you to Friendship Heights Neighborhood Network and Little Falls Village for inviting AHA to join this Zoom presentation.
Register HERE by September 6 or to the AHA office: AHA@AtHomeInAlexandria.org or 703-231-0824. FHNN will send the Zoom link to registrants the day before the event.
