AHA Well Represented at National Village Gathering
The annual conference of the Village to Village Network, of which AHA is a member, was held in Baltimore November 6-8, and AHA used the close proximity of the conference to bring a contingent of a dozen to fully fan out to network and learn from the many excellent speakers. And among those presenting were three of our own – Cele Garrett, Monica Estabrooke and Jan Pomerantz, who offered a session entitled “Fund Development for Mature Villages.”
The National Village Gathering, as the conference is called, kicked off with a keynote presentation from Rona Kramer, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Aging, who welcomed everyone to Maryland and shared some of the innovative programs offered to older adults in Maryland through the Department and its local affiliates. General sessions on the Digital Evolution, Mental Wellness, and the Neuroscience of Loneliness featured nationally recognized experts, while breakout sessions showcased the work being done by villages across the country in a wide variety of areas.
The AHA attendees will be compiling their session notes and sharing that information as appropriate with the AHA board, members and volunteers. The presentation powerpoints have been compiled for ongoing reference, as well.
