8th Anniversary Party Fun

Thank you to everyone who came out in support of AHA to celebrate our 8th Anniversary. The event was held May 8th at the Cameron Club in Cameron Station. The theme was “Embrace Your Story” and our guest speaker was Nancy Morgan who served as director of the Arts & Humanities Program at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center from 2001 to 2014 with a primary focus on teaching and researching expressive writing. She shared stories about the therapeutic value of writing and even provided our attendees with a prompt for discussion to demonstrate the value of sharing our stories. AHA plans to initiate a memoir writing group this Fall, and Nancy surely inspired many in the audience to get involved in that group. You can view photos from the event on the Photo Gallery page here.
AHA also honored Bill Clayton for his 8 years of service as our newsletter editor, and Teddye Clayton, his proofreader-in-chief. Special thanks to Pam Nelson and Annie Stat for organizing the food and beverage for the event, to Linda Langley and Babs Waters for handling registration, to Elliot Waters for organizing the setup and breakdown of the venue, and to the members of the Membership Committee for helping run the event. We appreciate all you did to make this a wonderful event for AHA!
