AHA “Paints the Town Red” at the 6th Annual Benefit Gala

Thank you to the members, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who came out in support of AHA at our 6th Annual Benefit Gala October 22nd at the Carlyle Club. We had a grand time and were very pleased to have Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg and Council members Del Pepper, Paul Smedberg and Tim Lovain in attendance. WRC’s Julie Carey hosted our Alexandria Trivia Contest and we appreciate her ongoing participation in this annual event. Upon arrival, our guests walked the red carpet with some “paparazzi” capturing their entrance.

So, when AHA “Paints the Town Red,” we mean it! Guests came decked out in their red attire and brought their festive spirit along, too. Bidding in the Silent Auction was robust and items like a week in a beautiful waterfront home in St. Michaels and lunch at the University Club with Martin Tolchin and Barbara Rosenfeld garnered top dollar. The wine raffle team, led by Steve Nelson, grouped the donated fine wines into 10 lots, so sales of raffle tickets were brisk before and during the event. The 10 lucky winners took home some exceptional wines for their enjoyment. Finally, congratulations to Mary Ann and Sally Ann who beat the competition in the Alexandria history trivia contest. They certainly know a lot about the city we all love.  And how about that dessert table – wow! A good time was had by all, indeed.

As a non-profit organization, At Home in Alexandria depends upon fundraising events, like our annual gala, to support our activities in support of our members continuing to live happily “in community.”  This 6th Annual Benefit Gala featured the special support of sponsors and we absolutely could not make a success of this event with their generous support.
